The Royal Navy was struggling with employee retention. Personnel were frustrated with analogue ways of working on top of a stressful day job. The Navy needed to digitally transform, quickly, to improve staff retention.
The solution was MyNavy. It’s an employee empowerment tool used by 72% of the Royal Navy every day.
The PWA was so useful that The Royal Navy asked Great State to transform the other analogue services causing frustration. There are now 12 product owners across the Royal Navy and Royal Air Force. Today, MyNavy features an online store for ordering uniform, self-reporting for sickness and absence, and resource databases on health, wellbeing, leadership and more – all accessible from a personal device and it's all built on Umbraco.
Lead Technical Architect, Andrew McKaskill, and Product Owner, Cdr Morgan Long, look at the architecture of the solution and describe how a multi-functional platform evolved from a simple web app to the award-winning solution it is today.
